The Classroom

Rendering and design by Whitney Architects

Guided by our mission and core values, the Nautilus space is one of comfort and inspiration for young learners. It has been designed thoughtfully with guidance from early childhood education experts and interior architects. Each aspect of the learning environment supports the varied needs of students, and provides teachers with a wide-range of options to support individual and group learning.  Furniture is intentionally chosen to enhance the environment with a lofted reading nook, a maker’s space, and a variety of standing and seated workspace options. These features, coupled with a separate space for lunch with a large harvest table, makes the classroom space feel like home.

The Community

Located in a beautiful church building in Chicago's historic Beverly community, The Nautilus School is not limited to the walls of our classroom.  Learners spend time outdoors every day, weather permitting.  Within walking distance to several of the city’s great parks, forest preserves, libraries, and local businesses, we view our neighbors and the community as an extension of our classroom.
